Far and away our favorite television series, ever.

Every time we watch an episode we feel like we are visiting our old friends, Tom (Richard Briers) and Barbara (Felicity Kendall) Goode. We are taken with the gentleness, charm, friendliness and humor of this lovely show that leaves us smiling at the end of each episode. Not to be outdone, are Tom and Barbara's neighbors, Jerry (Paul Eddington) and Margo (Penelope Keith) Leadbetter who are completely different from Tom and Barbara but each couple is decidedly, dyed-in-the-wool a good neighbor to the other. 

Clicked the channel-changer right past this one for many years. Finally took the chance and rented Season One on DVD. My wife and I love this series, now. We always enjoying spending an episode or two with Jean (Judi Dench) and Lionel (Geoffrey Palmer) and the rest of their families and friends. Each episode shows us something of ourselves in our own lives together and in the love Jean and Lionel have for each other through it all, we find hope and joy in that as well.

We have the most fun watching this series of any of the BBC series we enjoy. The cars, the locations, the events competed in are always unique, thrilling and entertaining. Nothing, however can compare to the three hosts (Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May) who push the show into the stratosphere with their totally opposite personalities (yes, all three of them!) and their discussions and jostling/jabbing back and forth. Sadly, only Season 10 is currently on DVD - but don't miss it. At all.

Recommended to us by my 21-year old stepdaughter and the entire family of our dear friends our age and their three boys (aged 8, 5, and 1 years old), my wife gave me the first three seasons for my 42nd birthday - and I was thrilled. We both like the series for so many reasons (if you have any kids in your life, they can tell you all about it), but the main draws are the fact that Ben always acts his age and is in fact, a kid throughout; there are always lessons in each episode; relationships with family and friends are always at the forefront; there are always really well thought out bad guys and the hero can take them on in many different superhero alien lifeforms  - and it's a cartoon. How cool is that!?

Couldn't wait for this to pop onto Nickelodeon back in the 80's, and still think it as one of the best cartoons around, anywhere, anytime. Intelligently written, hysterically funny and satirically brilliant, this show always leaves us laughing and giggling (especially at our hero's helper, Penfold). The complete series is available on DVD. Let your grown-up ways go and settle in for a grown-up kids cartoon about the world's greatest secret agent.

We watch this every time we find it on Discovery Channel - we even watch episodes we have seen before. One thought sums up the series for us: "Why can't we have great jobs like that!?"
